HOARDING CLEANUP
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, hoarding is defined as the "persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions." There are some more common items such as newspapers or magazines, household supplies, food, etc., but a hoarder can have trouble getting rid of any items. The value of the items is irrelevant in these situations. Statistics show that anywhere between 6 and 15 million people in the US are hoarders.
Hoarding is a debilitating issue emotionally, physically and mentally. As a cleaning and restoration company it is our job to go in to these situations with compassion and without judgement. Our clients and their family members need for us to go in and get the job done as quickly as possible, but at the same time with an understanding of how this is going to affect our customer. These situations can cause a great deal of anxiety for the hoarder. Below you will see a video of a hoarding cleaning that we did.
To find success, create a roadmap of the project and go over it with your client. Every job is a custom job—no two will ever be alike. And until the client is ready, you will do more harm than good by trying to force them to clean up. Our onsite inspection will help clarify problems and give a clear plan moving forward
